Over 100 Years of Innovation

It all began in 1887 with Halda, a company that crafted beautiful watches. In 1916, Axel Djurson founded Svenska AB Bromsregulatorer (SAB) in Malmö, Sweden, registering a patent for an automatic brake lever for trains. Over the years, SAB became one of the world's most distinguished and leading suppliers of braking systems for trains.

The foundations of what we now call Haldex were laid in the 1960s. In 1962, SAB launched a development project to explore how the train brake lever could be adapted for road vehicles. There is no doubt that this project was a great success. Today, after 50 years, the brake lever remains the global market leader, with more than 75 million units produced.
